We bought tickets for the Red Bus which also gives you access to the Green bus and so we landed up doing both, and were glad that we did. The green route takes you through the leafier and more affluent suburbs of Johannesburg whilst the Red route takes you through the city and other more urban areas. The commentary is interesting, engaging and informative. We stopped off at the Apartheid Museum and in Braamfontein on the Red route and just stayed on the bus for the Green route. We picked up the tours at Constitution Hill where there is ample undercover, secure and free parking.
I only had Sunday to see and visit Johannesburg and this is the perfect way to get a good overview of the city. You get to see all the highlights. If you book the extended tour through Soweto you have to transfer to a mini van and you get an actual human tour guide and that was great fun. i strongly advise to take this optional tour.

Being in Johannesburg on business and having just one day as a tourist, I took the red bus.
A good tour: buses clean and tidy, the commentary worked, the green and red routes are varied with a number of interesting stops and the buses ran on time. Staff were friendly and the start point at Rosebank easy to find.
The highlight was the Soweto add-on tour - well worth the time if you have it (allow 2.5 hours)
Couldn't ask for anything more.
